Protrac iD makes Asset Tracking & Security easy.
Active RFID applications include location and tracking of high value items, plant and equipment as well as security monitoring using optional sensors built into the tags such as tamper, motion and vibration sensors and personal attack alarm buttons.
Examples:
- By attaching a tag to a vehicle as soon as it rolls off the assembly line and tracking it from the distribution point to the dealer showroom, continuous location, stock level and financial data can be recorded up to the time it is sold.
- Tags attached to high value objects such as museum artworks, hospital medical equipment, IT equipment and tags carried by staff are monitored by an RFID system linked to a central security system to sound an alarm for monitored events such as tamper, vibration, exit, missing and staff duress, deny exit if activated and facilitate locating of portable and shared equipment in locations such as hospitals and universities.
- Tags attached to high value equipment deployed throughout a network (e.g. a mobile phone network) allow centralised real time actual inventory of equipment for each location. RFID tags worn by employees allow access to each site, automatic identification of every maintenance visit and what equipment is removed and by whom.
- Tags attached to semi trailers are monitored by a reader connected to the prime mover's GPS/GSM system to provide the identity of the trailer(s) being towed. Alternatively, the reader can simultaneously identify hundreds of individually tagged high value objects transported by a single semi trailer. Tags fitted with temperature sensors provide the temperature of refrigerated loads in real time.
- Readers attached to weighbridges report the identity of a truck being weighed for applications such as mining, recycling, waste management and infrastructure development.
